Detroit Red Wings @ Colorado Avalanche
Saturday, October 19, 2013 - 16:03

It's been something I've wanted to do for years, and I finally got to do it Thursday night - Attend a Detroit Red Wings @ Colorado Avalanche game in Denver. Many thanks to my friend Rochelle who picked me up from the airport and took me to the game. I know she was a bit upset her avs lost 4-2, but overall it was a good game(especially the outcome!)

The hit on Nicklas Kronwall by McLeod at the beginning was quite vicious, but the rest of the game had a pretty good intensity considering the main rivalry was 10-15 years ago. Luckily we were on the end that the Red...

Delta Mileage Run and Coaster Trip
Tuesday, October 8, 2013 - 13:56

So I just got back from a weekend of traveling. The primary purpose was to get some miles for my Delta account so that I could maintain my Gold Medallion status through next year. I bought the ticket back in July for DFW-ATL-LAX-MSP-DFW for $200 roundtrip.

Fast forward to this past weekend, and I headed down to Dallas/Fort Worth after work on Friday to hit up Six Flags over Texas. They've implemented a new fingerprint scanning at the park, and I don't like it. Entrance lines into the park are insanely long and I'm not a fan of giving up my fingerprint. It took me about 25 minutes to opt...

Brief thoughts after Moore, OK Tornado
Sunday, May 26, 2013 - 23:47

May 3, 1999 is a day I will never forget. I was 15 years old at the time and was listening to all the coverage of the monster tornado that had gone through the Moore and Oklahoma City metro area that afternoon over a newer-ish invention called Real Player, which streamed audio choppily over my dialup connection at the time.

Ever since that day, I have been fascinated with that severe event. I have watched documentaries, tv specials, and youtube videos from the day. I always wished I could have witnessed that event.

Fast forward to May 24, 2011. At the time, that was the...

World Traveler
Friday, September 7, 2012 - 00:08

So I've really neglected my blog so far this year. I've not had a lot to write about as we had such a crappy year for storms and it's seemingly been 100 degrees for 3 months straight now here in Oklahoma City. I did manage to get away a few times this summer on business trips, one being to Indonesia and one to Dubai.

The Indonesian trip was first, leaving right after the 4th of July here in the US. Our objective was to install a radar archiving and playback system for the Indonesian governments radar system. This was probably the smoothest international installation I have been apart of.

I was also afforded...

April 30, 2012 Medford, OK Tornado

I just got done with a 4 day stretch of amazing chasing starting Friday in Kansas where I intercepted a brief tornado near Council Grove, KS. While that chase was a let down, the following three days more than made up for it.

Saturday included a chase down near Aspermont, TX where I saw one of...

It has been a busy 2 week period as severe weather season kicks into high gear! It started on the 2nd with a nice storm just after dark up near Gage, OK and continued on the 9th with some nice tornadoes near Woodward. Unfortunately I didn't make it up in time for those, but the week was capped off by an active Friday and Saturday including a tornado through the city of Norman, OK on Friday which nearly hit my apartment!...

Tornado Outbreak Likely Friday and Saturday!
Friday, April 13, 2012 - 10:22

It's Friday the 13th, and the 12Z NAM is painting an ominous picture for Oklahoma and Kansas today and tomorrow. The target today seems to be southwest of Oklahoma City in the Lawton to Chickasha area where instability is forecast to be the highest. Forecast hodographs are huge from Oklahoma City and southwest.

Chase Forecast November 7, 2011
Sunday, November 6, 2011 - 10:29

It's Sunday morning here in Oklahoma after the time change, and that isn't the only thing that's changed. The winds changed direction and started sucking moisture up from the gulf yesterday, with strong southerly winds. Upper 50 and low 60 dewpoints are now into north Texas and southern Oklahoma with Pauls Valley, OK reporting 61 at 10 am CST this morning. You can see the moisture return in the graphic below, with the data coming from current observations.
