New Server
Friday, November 21, 2014 - 10:16

I've shipped a new Dell R610 to the datacenter in Michigan and should have a new server online by this time next week! The speed on my website among other things should be significantly increased with this new hardware. Looking forward to get it online

Busy September and October
Wednesday, October 1, 2014 - 11:23

There's been a lot going on in the month of September, and a lot more to come now that October is here. I started off the month of September in Los Angeles which was a blast. Bill Oosterbaan and I rode roller coasters at Six Flags Magic Mountain and Knott's Berry Farm and visited some of the main attractions.

My mom came to visit the week after I got back and then her and I both flew to Michigan mid month where I went to Cedar Point and to see the Michigan vs Miami (OH) game. Speaking of Michigan, it's been a disastrous season and I'm not sure they'll win again.

The weekend of the...

Cheap Airfares
Thursday, July 24, 2014 - 22:25

A popular question I get often is "how do I get cheap flights like you?". It's never an easy question to answer. Most people are looking for a specific destination for a specific time period and it's not easy to magically find cheap fares.

The best advice I can give to someone looking for cheap flights is to check out the ITA Matrix. From there you can do all sorts of advanced searches and use multiple airports as well as specify specific airlines.

For example, let's say I wanted to go visit my mom in November. I would put OKC, TUL, ICT, DFW, DAL in the departing...

New items in the store
Wednesday, July 23, 2014 - 13:59

I've finally added photo prints to the store for order. It's just a small collection of my better shots in some common sizes. I've also better finished off the store page. It was looking kind of lame before.

All photos will be printed through a third party and shipped directly to you. All prints will be on metallic paper as it looks the sharpest in my opinion.

Fall Trips
Tuesday, July 22, 2014 - 12:24

As you know, traveling is one of my favorite hobbies to do outside of storm chasing. This year is no different with quite a full roster of destinations.

In August I'll be heading to Michigan for a family reunion and chaser gathering weekend and Los Angeles for Labor Day weekend.

September-October is when things get pretty crazy. Between a party for chaser Aaron Rigsby in Norman and visits to Michigan, Denver, Portland Oregon, Atlanta, and Philadelphia, I have a full roster until the middle of October.

A few week break and it looks like Indiana ChaserCon and San Francisco in November and Phoenix and Boston in...

Upcoming chase forecasts
Monday, April 21, 2014 - 13:53

Since there's quite a few possible chase days coming up, I thought I'd post an article on my website instead of social media posts. All of this data is based upon todays 12Z GFS run

The next couple of days should be quiet with the mid level and upper level winds being relatively calm in the wake of the system that passed through yesterday. Speaking of yesterday, I witnessed some amazing structure with Scott Peake. Truly a rewarding marginal setup day.

The first real chase opportunity is Wednesday. While it looks decent, I think tornado chances are low at the current...

Have you ever wanted to go storm chasing?
Tuesday, April 15, 2014 - 14:57

Have you ever wanted to join a real storm chaser on a chase? Now you will have that opportunity for a limited time. I am taking a small amount of ride alongs this May. If you want to chase, this might be one of the cheaper opportunities to do so.

When: Starting April 26th through May 16

Details: I'm not running any official chase tour, but I am offering an opportunity to join me on storm chases. I have very limited amount of spaces available, but will at least have 1 seat open for any of those days should it be a chase day.

You would be responsible for...

Tornado Potential tomorrow in Southeast Oklahoma
Saturday, April 12, 2014 - 14:16

Tomorrow, April 13, appears to have some tornado threat in Eastern and Southeast Oklahoma. It appears the dryline should start firing storms around 4pm along I-35 and they should quickly move east and become severe in an unstable atmosphere east of I-35. Shear profiles, especially south of Ada, OK, have the potential to produce supercells and possibly a few tornadoes.

I will definitely be out chasing tomorrow afternoon so watch for updates on Twitter and Facebook.

Here's a forecast sounding for Durant, OK

April is starting off with a bang
Monday, March 31, 2014 - 12:01

The GFS has been showing quite an active pattern starting almost around the 1st of April for over a week now. With 3 days of severe weather around the corner, it looks like severe weather season is finally here after such a slow start. It will feel good to finally get back on the road chasing supercells. The last supercell I chased was May 31, 2013.

It will be good to see old friends this season, and meet new friends. Hope everyone has a safe and fruitful chasing year. See you all under the meso tomorrow!

Oh, and my target tomorrow is Duncan to Chickasha. Here's a 00Z NAM Sounding for...

TSA Precheck and Global Entry
Saturday, March 1, 2014 - 13:51

Back in 2012 I joined the Customs and Border Patrol program known as "Global Entry", which turned out to be one of the best $100 ever invested. Not only can I use the kiosks at customs on arrival to the US on the few times a year I travel out of the country, but I automatically qualify for TSA Precheck just about any time I fly domestically. I save tons of time and hassle by skipping ahead in the lines and not having to remove my laptop, shoes and everything else to go through security.

For example, on our way back from ChaserCon on Tuesday February 18th, Denver International Airport (DEN...
